Located in the Scottish Borders just one hour south of Edinburgh, Duns Castle is the centrepiece of a beautiful 1200-acre estate and has been the seat of the Hay family for over 300 years. Steeped in history, the oldest part of the castle dates from 1320. It was here that the Covenanters amassed their forces in 1639 to protect Scotland’s freedom of worship. Today, the property is an idyllic, exclusive-use venue for weddings, vacations, meetings and events. In partnership with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the estate boasts its own nature reserve, complemented by extensive forest trails and bespoke indoor and outdoor activities.
The Estate can accommodate up to 50 guests while the Castle can comfortably seat 60 for dinner. The extensive lawns and parkland offer numerous possibilities for marquees and larger events.
Duns Castle Estate recently rose to the challenge, competing with castles across Europe, to become the flagship property for HomeAway’s 2017 brand awareness campaign linked to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. This huge campaign saw Duns Castle propelled into millions of households across the globe and included the live broadcast from the Castle of “Today on NBC”, the top morning show in the US. This was hailed by VisitScotland as a massive coup for Scottish tourism.
