Lecturer in Events Management
Glasgow Caledonian University

Jenny Flinn is a Lecturer in Events Management at Glasgow Caledonian University where she is programme leader for the BA (Hons) International Events Management and also teaches on the MSc International Events Management.  Her research focuses on the role of cultural events in creating identity and community cohesion.

Jenny plays a key role in developing work experience opportunities for students in order to enable them to put the knowledge and skills that they gain from their studies into action and has built relationships with a variety of events organisers throughout Scotland. She is keen to promote a positive relationship between academia and industry and her proudest moments occur when graduates come back to speak to her current students about their roles. Her former students have gone on to work on numerous events both at home and internationally, including Celtic Connections, T in the Park, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup 2015, Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 and, of course, the Scottish Event Awards!

She in honoured to be asked to judge at this year’s Awards and looks forward to reading all of the fantastic entries from Scotland’s events industry.
